Melgaço’s flagship celebration of Alvarinho wine and traditional smoked meats
Founded in 1995, this is the premier event showcasing the Monção-Melgaço sub-region’s Alvarinho wines and IGP-certified fumeiro (smoked meats). The 31st edition (2025) featured 31 Alvarinho producers and 16 local product producers at Largo do Mercado. The 32nd edition (2026) moves to the Centro de Estágios de Melgaço, responding to the event’s growth with better infrastructure and parking. Over 50,000 visitors expected.
The festival is the first major annual moment to present the new Alvarinho harvest alongside the year’s fumeiro production.
