A Hillside Haven in the Minho Valley
Our quinta sits on a south-facing hillside between Monção and Melgaço, in the heart of Northern Portugal's Minho region. Spanning 1.2 hectares, the land slopes gently down toward a river that runs along the bottom of the valley, surrounded by ancient oak trees and terraced vineyard rows that have been here for generations. In spring, the entire property erupts in blossoms — cherry, almond, and wild lavender. In summer, we cool off in the river just steps away. There is a hot tub perched on the hillside with views stretching across the valley, and on clear evenings you can see the mountains of Peneda-Gerês in the distance. It is quiet, green, and endlessly beautiful.

Building Our Dream Home
Built by Casa Gaia from Braga, we designed the house to honor the landscape — Portuguese granite walls that echo the old terraces, expansive glass panels that frame the valley like living paintings, and an open floor plan that lets the outdoors flow in. The architecture balances modern comfort with traditional materials, creating a home that feels both contemporary and deeply rooted in this place. Every decision, from the orientation of the windows to the placement of the terrace, was made with the land in mind. The house is expected to be ready by mid-April 2026.
The Minho — Portugal's Green North
The Minho region is Portugal's best-kept secret — a lush, green corner of the country that feels worlds apart from the Algarve's tourist beaches. Our quinta sits within easy reach of some of the region's greatest treasures. Peneda-Gerês National Park, Portugal's only national park, is just a short drive away, offering dramatic mountain landscapes, ancient oak forests, and wild swimming spots. The historic city of Braga, with its baroque churches and vibrant food scene, is nearby. Ponte de Lima, one of the oldest towns in Portugal and famous for its charming riverside setting and vinho verde vineyards, is a favorite day trip. The Spanish border is close too, opening up the world of Galician culture and cuisine. Whether you want mountain hikes, river swims, wine tastings, or simply a quiet lunch at a traditional tasca, it is all here.
