A cross-border cycling challenge through Alto Minho vineyards and Galician mountains
The Monção e Melgaço Granfondo is one of Northern Portugal’s premier cycling events, offering a stunning cross-border adventure through the Alto Minho region and into Galicia (Spain). The event departs from Monção/Melgaço and features three routes of increasing difficulty: the Minifondo (73 km), Mediofondo (96 km), and Granfondo (130 km).
Riders traverse Alvarinho vineyards along the Rio Minho valley, climb through forested mountain roads, cross into Galicia, and return through some of the most scenic landscapes in the Iberian Peninsula. The event attracts serious amateur cyclists from across Portugal and Spain, with full route support, feed stations, and timing.
