Route & Itinerary

1. Palácio da Brejoeira

Grand 19th-century palace with estate Alvarinho — book the tour and tasting in advance. The palace grounds and wine cellars are a stunning introduction to the region’s winemaking heritage.

2. Monção Old Town & Adega

Wander the old town, stop at Adega de Monção cooperative for a tasting. The cooperative brings together wines from dozens of local producers under one roof.

3. Lunch in Monção

Traditional Minho lunch paired with Alvarinho — try the lampreia if in season, or rojões. The local restaurants serve hearty portions with wines from nearby vineyards.

4. Quinta de Soalheiro in Melgaço

Vineyard walk and tasting at one of the pioneer Alvarinho producers. Soalheiro has been at the forefront of Alvarinho winemaking since the 1980s and their estate offers beautiful views across the valley.

5. Melgaço Castle Town

Finish with a stroll through the medieval walled town of Melgaço. The castle and old quarter sit high above the Minho valley with views across to Spain.
